Rather than seeing myself solely as a designer, artist, researcher or art director, I like to describe my qualities as in applying creative thinking to a wide range of practices. Everything and every nothing can be a medium in a creative process and every medium can benefit from playful experimentation, surprising view points and stimulating communication (external or internal). May it be a piece of paper, a story line, a way to find your way, a question, an image, an experience, educational goals or even a whole society. The outcomes are not predestined to come in one specific material, medium or style, but are carefully created in the form they are best consumed in, for the people who are supposed to consume them. My studies took place in an atmosphere of collaboration, interdisciplinary exchange and hands on learning, which leaves me without fear for new challenges and with a great network of energetic professionals and inspiring friends. I am permanently working on adding a good mix of herbs to the creation soup, never without a whiff of humor and the questioning of conventions (also my own), adding pinches of seriousness when boiling, to finish with fine slices of overview, determination and gentleness. A true born, 5 months socialist child from 1989, I grew up in the united Berlin testing to mix up fields such as soccer, drumming, acting, judo, dancing, choirs, basketball, school politics and church communities. After internships in product design studios in Berlin, I started my study at the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2009, entering the department Man and Communication after the introduction year. In 2010 I joined the independent school magazine SNOR with changing roles as contributor, illustrator, graphic designer, art director and activist. In 2012 I made a 6 months long move to Hamburg, interning at the now growing, then small advertising agency Oliver Voss. With them I worked for clients such as: Die Welt, Die Welt am Sonntag, Rolling Stone Magazine, Jägermeister, Adidas, SCHÜCO and Hamburger Abendblatt and realised a campaign for the car rental company SIXT at all major German airports. In 2013 I graduated with my two projects #OnceUponManyTimes and The Millennial Church from the Design Academy to receive my Bachelor of Arts. Since then I am working on a freelance base in Amsterdam, Eindhoven and Berlin, among others for and with: Stichting HOLY (Oxfam Novib), Huawei, artists Jennifer Tee, Xavier Robles de Medina and David Jablonowski, WOW Amsterdam, Design Academy Eindhoven, ISOCARP, LaBolleur, TAC Eindhoven, The European Democracy Lab, Studio Mashed and Bolskov Beer as well as on my own projects, events and initiatives.
Since 2015 I am finding myself to be an artist in residence at WOW-Amsterdam, for which I did a number of commissioned designs since, as well as I have found some great collaboration opportunities. And so I have worked with polish film maker Julia Sokolnicka on two movie projects, collaborated with a collective of fashion designers on a messy poster sculpture for their exhibition Rip Off and made the book 'If you dream of your tongue, beware', together with Dutch-Surinamese artist Xavier Robles de Medina for his solo exhibition in New York. Also I worked together with artist Jennifer Tee on a series of wall carpets commissioned by the Textile Museum Tilburg.
Work of mine has been featured for example in the Van Abbe Museum Eindhoven, the FOAM Output awards 2013 and The Creators Project (VICE).
I am always looking forward for new professional adventures, connections and collaborations and will be excited to hear from you! (in German, English, Dutch or a bit of French)
