Millenial Church Portraits
For one of my two graduation projects at the Deign Academy Eindhoven I created modern ritual habits for a church without deity. In this process I created among other things this series of portraits, expressing peoples desires of who/how they would like to be, apart from cultural norms they feel restricted to. With the help of facial paint we created warriors, an observers, mean or more vulnerable personalities for example. What if the cultural norm of a newly invented religion would give you the framework to be another person once in a while. This portrayal of the Millenial Church is inspired for instance by traditions like monasticism, carnival or ritualistic dances. For the future I am planning to experiment with open sourcing the creation of rituals and the writing of a genesis. For more information see the ongoing blog of the Millenial Church HERE.
